Within a year I finished my first sprint triathlon, an Olympic distance, the daunting Escape From Alcatraz and my first Half Ironman. The second year I completed three Half Ironmans, a full Ironman (IMAZ), and a sprint tri. I am fortunate to have an incredibly fast husband that I train with and a great team as well!
This blog allows me to journal my progress and thoughts as I go along my path. Our lives have changed completely and we split our time between training together and working at our new business (healthy plant-based catering for athletes) Bite Me Kitchen!
Triathlon has provided me with more than fitness...somewhere in all the training sessions, the grueling long weekends and facing my fears in the ocean, I've become happy. I stopped drinking. I am in control of my eating. I'm healthy. I'm calm. I'm looking at tackling some new challenges in my personal life. I'm empowered. I'm learning that nothing is beyond my reach with a good plan and enough hard work!I am coached by the one and only Joby Gutierrez with Team FC (Fitness Coaching). I write product reviews for Outside Magazine's Gear Army, write for our personal cooking website at Bite Me Kitchen, believe that whole, natural, plant-based food is the key to a healthy, happy body, and raise a small herd of cats with the love of my life in our home in Orange County. I can often be found riding in Santiago Canyon, swimming at Corona Del Mar and running all over from the Back Bay to Irvine or along SART!
